Karen K. Burrows

Karen K. Burrows is a producer at Vérité Films.  She holds an MPhil in Media and Cultural Studies from the University of Sussex, UK, and previously taught courses in film, media, and cultural studies there and during a Visiting Lectureship at the University of Brighton. She was Associate Producer on Seasons 3 and 4 of Corner Gas Animated, Associate Producer and Writer on Season 1 of Jeremy and Jazzy, and Story Producer and Writer on the Canadian Screen Nominated The 2021 Governor General's Performing Arts Awards.  She produced the 2022 and 2023 GGPAAs live on stage in Ottawa and is producing the 2024 Awards. She is Post Production Supervisor on Louise Lives Large.

Karen has spoken about Canadian television and pop culture on the Canadaland podcast and at conventions including San Diego Comic Con.  She has published on gender, sexuality, and representation on television.  Prior to working at Vérité, Karen worked in writing and production for Dynacor, contributing to projects ranging from e-learning to PSAs for industry and government, and in website maintenance for the Government of Alberta.

In her spare time, Karen lifts heavy weights, drinks tea, reads comics, and travels as much as possible.
